"Serving with Love. Restoring with Hope."
The welfare and community outreach ministry of AFM Segwaelane Assembly β demonstrating the love of Christ through practical service, social support, and compassionate intervention.

Who We Are
The Harvest of Hope Initiative is the welfare and community outreach ministry of the AFM of SA Segwaelane Assembly. We exist to demonstrate the love of Christ through practical service, social support, community empowerment, and compassionate intervention among vulnerable individuals and families.
We believe that the Gospel is demonstrated not only through preaching but also through acts of mercy, kindness, and restoration.
The Harvest of Hope Initiative seeks to become a bridge between the church and the community, ensuring that the church remains actively involved in addressing social needs while maintaining spiritual integrity.

Biblical Mandate
The Old Testament consistently reveals God's heart for the poor, the orphan, the widow, and the foreigner. The concept of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and the laws of gleaning (Leviticus 19:9β10) establish a biblical mandate for structured welfare provision.
"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land."
Deuteronomy 15:11
"If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness."
Isaiah 58:10
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
Micah 6:8
Jesus Christ is the ultimate model of integrated ministry β preaching the Gospel and meeting physical needs. He fed the hungry (Matthew 14), healed the sick (Mark 1), touched the untouchable (Mark 1:40β45), and restored dignity to the marginalized (John 4 and John 8).
Luke 4:18β19 β Jesus declared His mission: "to proclaim good news to the poor... freedom for the prisoners... recovery of sight for the blind... to set the oppressed free."
The early church modelled systematic, compassionate welfare. The first deacons were appointed specifically to oversee the daily distribution of food to widows (Acts 6:1β7) β this is the biblical precedent for a structured welfare department.
Galatians 2:10 β Paul confirmed that remembering the poor was central to the apostolic mission.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
Matthew 25:35β40
"All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need."
Acts 2:44β45
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress."
James 1:27
The Harvest of Hope Initiative operates from five foundational theological convictions:
Every person is made in the image of God β Genesis 1:26β27. Therefore, every beneficiary deserves respect, not pity or condescension.
We reject any theology that blames the poor for their condition β John 9:1β3.
We are ambassadors of reconciliation, which includes social and material restoration β 2 Corinthians 5:18β20.
Giving to the poor is not optional; it is an expression of saving faith β 2 Corinthians 9:6β8.
We offer hope through prayer and through food, clothing, and shelter β Jeremiah 29:11.
